If you plan to vacation in London, Paris, and/or Rome, knowing the weather really helps. We have found that Fall is the best time to visit. Either way, you should definitely know what to wear for each country especially if you plan to visit multiple locations during your vacation.
Hubby and I vacationed in London, Paris, and Rome in September. Check out how we spent 10 days in Europe here. The weather was great in all three countries. If you are thinking of visiting either one or all three, my opinion is that now is the best time to visit. If you are a planner, like myself, you can start planning for your Fall 2020 vacation before this year is out!
Weather During a European Vacation
London, UK
When visiting London, the best month to visit is September. June- August is when most Europeans take vacation so it tends to be a bit crowded. But as far as the weather, it really depends on how long you will be there. Some days will be cool and dreary and other days you may get a great deal of sunlight with a light pleasant breeze.
Because the weather can change each day, be sure to pack attire that will keep you warm (sweaters and long sleeve shirts), dry (light rain jacket, umbrella, rain shoes/booties, and a hat), cool (short sleeve shirts and chinos), and comfortable shoes (sneakers/walking shoes ).
Paris, France
When visiting Paris, be aware that peak season is summer (May -June). The weather is warmest during this time, of course. If you are traveling on a budget, the cheapest time to take a European vacation is early December, January, and February. This is during winter, but if you love winter weather, this would be a great time to go. My favorite month in Paris is September. April to October is when the weather is at it’s best; not too cold and not too hot.
The weather during the day in Paris was a bit cooler. I wore a long cardigan and a nice scarf with jeans, while Hubby wore a nice light jacket and jeans. Here are a couple cardigans here and here that would be great!
Rome, Italy
When visiting Rome, the best time to visit is September to November and April to May when it’s less crowded, days are warmer and bright and evenings are cooler only requiring a light jacket or sweater. Also, it rains most during October – December and winter is very mild.
Because Rome tends to be a bit warmer than London and Paris during September, wearing shorts wasn’t out of the ordinary during the day. At night it did get somewhat cooler but all we needed was a long sleeve shirt or sweater.

Packing for a European vacation should not be complicated. Unless you plan to run the runway while there, comfort is key.
